Flexitarian

Flexitarian

Have you ever heard the term Flexitarian? It's usually made in a passing joke about diet choices. But it is a real-life diet lifestyle. A person who has a primarily vegetarian diet but occasionally eats meat or fish. "in my close social circle I have a vegetarian, a pescatarian, and a flexitarian"

From a young age, I was lucky enough to get insight into the environment and the damaging effects of human nature and behavior.

One way I have always tried to help is by making small changes daily. Yes I still eat meat, yes I still buy plastic items, yes I am a heavy consumer. But I recycle, not always but 90% of the time. I swap out a vegan or vegetarian meal 30/40% of the time. I more recently have started to transition to eco-friendly/sustainable products and zero waste brands. Which has been less convenient but 100 times more rewarding.

I was once vegan 100%. I tried it for several months, I lost loads of weight and had a bad stomach a lot of the time, it wasn’t for me. I am also not as disciplined as I would like to be (but I know this) So you could call me a flexitarian. This is why I don't try to be perfect, but just conscious of the daily choices I am making. The more conversations I have, I am starting to understand that there are many who do the same, many that try to make better conscious decisions, but as well, are not perfect with it. And that's just fine, you shouldn't have to be all or nothing to not feel guilty.

Explore new brands and ways to consume.

Try being open it can help inspire a more optimistic attitude toward life and the future. Learn and try new things. It's hard to keep learning when you surround yourself with the same old ideas. Pushing your boundaries and reaching out to people with different perspectives and experiences can help keep your mind fresh.

I truly believe the way we currently consume is madness and completely unsustainable, but at the same time I also understand human nature and how hard change is for the general population due to psychology. We all know how difficult it can be to make a change and get into a routine with it. Sometimes is hard to change someone's daily habits, minds, or opinions on a matter. But we are not here to do that, we are here to educate, aid, and assist you in starting your journey to a more conscious way to live.

We have reached a tipping point, we are all very aware of this, it isn’t new news. I'm not here to tell you to change your life drastically, nor pressure you on emotions of animals dying and forests being ripped down. Although this is something that happens in mad quantities all around the world daily. 🤯

With your help, we are bringing our Gaia forest dream to life, where we are planting trees in Madagascar helping farmers with wages and reforestation but also we are investing in Gaia Forest in Somerset, England building more of an environment for wildlife and reforestation.

Make a simple change today, reduce your consumption, try a zero-waste store or venture out to the “unknown” and try a 100% vegan meal, you’d be surprised how great they all are.
